1st shift Manufacturing General Labor

Summary (Scope of the Job)

1st Shift openings - Ensure safe and swift quality production of customer orders working with all employees in department following production requirements.

Major Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties in a safe and collaborative manner and immediately report any potentially unsafe conditions or other safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Ensures correct materials are set up and used for each production order.
  • Start up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA requirements for machine activation and shutdown.
  • Perform mechanical changeover & set-up tasks in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Plan repair activities with maintenance personnel and supervisor
  • Inspect for general machine defects, misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication and determine best process for making repairs with limited interruption to production. Coordinate with maintenance personnel and/or supervisor.
  • Work in accordance with all safety guidelines as outlined in the Greif (or location) Safety Manual, HECP, JSA and OSW procedures.
  • Maintain tools & equipment and work area in a safe, neat, and secure manner.
  • Ensure department is cleaned up with all scrap disposed of by the end of the shift.
  • Maintain & ensure completion of TPM (preventative maintenance and lubrication) schedules.
  • May train others on production activities when applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned when applicable.


High School Diploma or GED required.


2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Knowledge and Skills:

Including but not limited to mechanical and machine operating skills; ability to operate all jobs in the work cell to provide daily relief during breaks & lunches; computer skills; effective leadership abilities, including planning workflow, coordinating activities throughout department, and overseeing efficient completion of orders. Communication is essential to the smooth operation of the department including, communication to each department employee on special customer requirements, continuous dialogue with department employees & maintenance personnel, communication of shift hand-off information for smooth transition between shifts.

Ability to adapt to varied work scheduled 2nd shift (overtime, weekends, Varied hours)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $23.93 per hour
